How Long Will Facial Implant Surgery Take?
Facial implant surgery generally takes one to two hours and is an outpatient procedure. Typically, this surgery is performed under local/twilight anesthesia, so you will feel no pain and will have no memory of your procedure.
How Long Will Facial Implant Recovery Take?
The duration of facial implant recovery may vary from person to person, but typically it takes several weeks to fully recover. In general, most patients can expect to take about 1-2 weeks off work or other normal activities to allow for proper healing. The initial swelling and bruising will likely subside within the first two weeks, but some mild swelling may persist for up to several months. Patients may experience some discomfort during the first few days of recovery, but this can be managed with pain medication if needed. It’s recommended that patients avoid strenuous activities for about six weeks to ensure proper healing.

Frequently Asked Facial Implant Surgery Questions
Are there any risks or complications associated with facial implant surgery?
Like any surgical procedure, there are risks and potential complications associated with facial implant surgery. These may include bleeding, infection, implant displacement or shifting, and nerve damage. However, these complications occur in less than 1% of chin and cheek augmentation procedures. Furthermore, Dr. Garcia’s focus and expertise on facial implant techniques help to minimize the risks associated with facial implant surgery.
Can facial implants be combined with other facial procedures?
Yes, facial implants can be combined with other facial procedures to enhance the overall appearance of the face. Many patients choose to combine cheek and chin implants into a single procedure to optimize the proportions of the face. Patients may also consider including a facelift or rhinoplasty to achieve further balancing of the facial features and combat signs of aging.
Will there be visible scarring after facial implant surgery?
No. At Garcia Facial Plastic Surgery, the incisions for chin augmentation and cheek augmentation are made inside the mouth. This means that no one will be able to see the scars from your facial implant surgery – you likely won’t even see them yourself!
