Chemical peels are a type of facial resurfacing treatment that exfoliates using a chemical solution, revealing a new layer of healthy skin underneath. A peel will even out your skin tone, brighten your complexion and give you a fresher, more youthful appearance.

TYPES OF PEELS
Light PEELS (AKA Superficial) will tighten, balance and restore your skin to its natural radiance. The outer layer of skin is gently exfoliated to improve mild conditions, stimulate the growth of new skin cells, boost collagen production, and generally freshen your face, neck or hands. The result is tighter, brighter skin.
Medium PEELS penetrate deeper to address fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, freckles, age spots, mild skin discoloration, and moderate scarring.
Deep PEELS are designed to dramatically improve your skin’s texture, alleviate moderate wrinkles, age spots, scarring, severe sun damage, and hyperpigmentation. Pre-treatment of the skin is required.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Light PEELS will cause slight redness of the skin and light exfoliation for up to three days. You will be sent home with instructions and a post treatment kit. These peels are best performed as a series and are often called the “lunchtime peel” because there is virtually no downtime for healing.
Medium PEELS may take one to two weeks to completely heal; however, most patients return to work the next day. During treatment, a slight tingling and/or burning sensation can be expected. Post procedure your skin will be red, swollen and begin to peel within three days. You will receive detailed instructions, a post treatment kit, and return to Dr. Garcia’s office several times during the first several months for follow-up care.
Deep PEELS take longer to heal and are more uncomfortable. Expect overall swelling and redness (especially around the eyes and lips) for up to seven days, and three to five days of peeling. It is critical to follow at-home care instructions. Your skin will be sensitive and pink for up to three weeks. Several follow-up appointments the first few weeks will assist your skin’s healing process. Only one treatment is needed for long-lasting, beautiful results.
Broad-spectrum (UVA and UVB) and SPF 30 or above sunscreen is required after all peels.
